Debbie feels three times the strain with TRIB3 28 Day Challenge

THERE’S keeping fit…and then there’s keeping fit with the TRIB3 28 Day Challenge 2023!

Runner and keep fit enthusiast Debbie Bell knows exactly how tough the challenge can be as she has already taken part twice in the past.

But as she launches into a February of gruelling sessions at the TRIB3 gym in Ecclesall Road, she admits the challenge never gets any easier.

The idea is simple – TRIB3 offers 28 of its tough workout sessions - all of which must be completed in February - for £55, with participants raising sponsorship towards our patient care.

This year’s challenge aims to raise at least £20,000 and 64-year-old Debbie, who lives in Ranmoor, says it will be worth the exertion as her wife Ang was a St Luke’s patient as she faced the final weeks of her battle against cancer.

“This is the third time I have done the challenge and I know my knees are going to struggle,” Debbie admits.

“What makes it even more difficult is that I’m going to be away for a week in February so I will need to do double sessions some days just to make sure I complete all 28 before the end of February.

“It’s not just difficult physically – there’s also the mental challenge of getting up every day and knowing you have to do the class.

“I know just how important St Luke’s is because I saw it for myself when Ang was a patient and it’s something you never forget.

“I’m doing the challenge for her and for all St Luke’s because we all know colleagues and friends who have needed the hospice.”

A keen supporter of our work throughout Sheffield, TRIB3 has already raised more than £60,000 with its previous challenges, including a virtual workout at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic and having a team participate in last year’s Sheffield Half Marathon.

“This is a great way to get fit for the New Year and do something good for St Luke’s,” said our Senior Fundraising Manager Matthew Sheridan.

“We are delighted that TRIB3 have decided to offer their 28 Day Challenge in 2023 - and I know members like Debbie will give it everything they have!

“It really is a great motivation to get fit, knowing that every pound you lose is a pound St Luke’s gains!”
