Who we are

Share your story

If you have a story about your experiences with our St Luke's services, our care and support for you or a family member, a fundraising challenge that you're taking part in or you'd like to tell us more about a way that you're supporting us, we'd love to hear from you.

Share your story

We believe that sharing real stories and personal experiences from people and their loved ones who have experienced St Luke's care and/or are supporting us can make a real difference.

Telling powerful stories about your experience could help raise awareness across Sheffield about the work we do, help more people access our services, break down barriers, expel myths about death and dying, inspire someone to fundraise or volunteer or simply help someone who is going through the same thing to feel less alone.

Whether you are living with a terminal illness, are recently bereaved, are caring for someone, if a loved one has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or even if you're simply a St Luke's supporter who is fundraising for us, we’d love to hear from you.

Will you share your story?

Please read below to find out about how to share your story with the St Luke's team. Thank you for your support.

All you need to do at this stage is click on the ‘Share your story’ button to get in touch with our Marketing and Communications team. All we will ask for is your name, email address and phone number and give you space to include any details about your St Luke's story, but this is optional at this stage. A member of our stories team will then be in touch to have a chat about your story, guide you through the process and make you feel as comfortable as possible.

Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] or give us a call on 0114 236 9911 and ask to speak to a member of the Marketing and Communications team.

There are many different ways we use real life stories to make a real difference for people living with a terminal diagnosis, and their families, and people who’ve shared their story often find it a really positive experience.

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that we will publish your story, but we will do our best to. We would never consider using any part of your story without asking you first.

Your story may be used on our website or social media, in the press, as part of a fundraising appeal or perhaps as part of our Impact Report to show the difference St Luke's makes. However we use your story, we will always talk you through the consent process and explain how and where your story will be used.

Your story could take the form of a video interview, a news story on our website, an article in the press or a post on our social media pages. You can see examples of our work at the bottom of this page.

Jess & Dave's Story

"Jess was in the final stages of her battle against cancer when I proposed to her on Christmas Day 2020. We had no idea if we would actually be able to get married, then then Jess went to St Luke's and I cannot speak highly enough of what everyone there did for us."

Vickki & Tim's Story

"I didn't understand the work that was done in the community and it really opened up my eyes to the amazing work that St Luke's do. The relief that someone else was there meant everything to me. St Luke's managed to take care of the situation with love, care and dignity."

James' Story

"Knowing that volunteering is helping St Luke's raise money to provide the best possible treatment is a very heart warming thing to do."
