Sheffield Mums Against Cancer keep things busy!

IF you want a job doing, get a busy mum on the case…or even better, a whole team of busy mums!

Sheffield Mums Against Cancer (SMAC) is the group headed by Ceri Rodgers and her friends that has, since it was launched in 2014, raised well over £125,000 for local cancer charities.

The group’s most recent event – a ball at the OEC in Hillsborough – supported St Luke’s and Weston Park Cancer Charity, with both organisations receiving an incredible £12,560 each.

“I lost a close friend to breast cancer and she was cared for by St Luke’s so I knew how important their support was,” said Ceri, who lives in Norton.

“Then I had other friends who were diagnosed with cancer and even heard about parents at my oldest daughter’s school who were ill and I just got angry and knew I wanted to do something to help.

“When you become familiar with St Luke’s and what they do, you realise why they need support so I got together with some friends and we’ve been fundraising as Sheffield Mums Against Cancer ever since.”

The next SMAC Ball will be held at the OEC on March 11 and tickets are available now via email at SMAC or by calling 07590 814086.
