Keeping our nurses on the road this winter with Burrows gift

NO matter how bad the winter ahead, patient care won’t be a problem for the St Luke’s Hospice Community team thanks to a major gift from Burrows Motor Company that will keep services on the road.

As part of a year-long partnership, the well-known city car dealership has given a new Yaris Cross Hybrid SUV to St Luke’s for the next 12 months.

The partnership was launched at Crystal Peaks shopping centre, where visitors had the chance to take a look at the new vehicle which will keep services moving through the worst of the winter.

“Last year the St Luke’s Community team made 6,889 home visits, and travelled almost 55,700 miles around the city to deliver specialist care to patients living at home,” said St Luke’s Chief Executive Peter Hartland.

“This incredibly generous partnership with Burrows Motor Company gives us a vehicle that will be predominantly used by our Community nurses when visiting patients in adverse weather, ensuring our support can continue whatever the conditions.

“The fact that the Yaris Cross Hybrid not only includes all the best features of the SUV but can also be driven using either electric energy or a combination of both petrol and electric power also fits in perfectly with the St Luke’s commitment to caring for the environment.”

Burrows Motor Company Managing Director Steve Burrows commented: “St Luke’s delivers the best possible palliative care for anyone affected by terminal illness in Sheffield.

"Burrows Motor Company is proud to be associated with the hospice, by providing a Toyota Yaris, to aid the community nurses who deliver care to patients in their own homes.

"St Luke’s provides an invaluable service to the local community and all at Burrows thank them for their work in providing invaluable care to patients and their families.”
