Storrs Green Tractor Rally goes online for 2020

The Storrs Green Tractor Rally may have been grounded by the COVID-19 pandemic but the annual South Yorkshire agricultural show will go ahead online.

And money raised by the virtual celebration of farming life will this year be going to St Luke’s.

Now in its sixth year, the Tractor Rally has raised an amazing £25,000 for the region’s top charities.

The highlight of the day is usually the cavalcade of more than 90 tractors that winds its way through the lanes around Stannington and then through Strines, Low Bradfield, Dungworth and Loxley.

This year, though, the event will be going ahead online only and the show’s competitive categories can still be entered via the internet.

A minimum donation of £5 gives entry to as many classes as competitors want in the Rally dog show, livestock show and a miscellaneous category that includes everything from Muckiest Tractor to Grumpiest Farmer!

“Doing the rally this way is a fun alternative to our usual event and one that can still do good for St Luke’s,” said organiser Alice Hague.

“We will have rosettes for all the winners and a trophy for overall dog show champion and we’d really like to see all our usual competitors joining in and making this a great event.”
