Hang onto those donations says our Head of Retail

We are asking all our supporters not to leave bags of donations outside our chain of shops.

All 14 of the St Luke’s shops - along with its eBay site - are closed indefinitely as the Coronavirus pandemic continues.

That also means the St Luke’s collection and delivery drivers are currently not making their usual visits to the shops around Sheffield.

“We truly value the brilliant support of everyone who donates to us, but on this occasion we have no choice but to ask you not to leave donations at our shops as we are unable to accept or process donations at this time” said our Head of Retail Marie Egerton.

“Our shops rely entirely on donation, so it seems a little odd to ask you to hold onto your unwanted items for now.

“Storing your donated clothes and furniture in the short term, though, is one of the best ways to help us for now because as soon as normal operations resume we will need your donations and support more than ever before.

“We would hate to think of your valued donations being abandoned on the streets and then removed as waste, which is what is likely to happen while the shops remain closed.

“Keep looking at the St Luke’s website for the latest information on our retail operations and when we will be opening again.

“Our shop chain generates around one third of St Luke’s income every year and we look forward to being able to welcome back our supporters and shoppers very soon.

“Now you’ve all had the opportunity to clear your cupboards, we are sure you’ll have plenty of clothing, books, DVDs, CDs, accessories, household items and bric-a-brac to donate - all of which will make a massive impact on the care we are able to give to our patients and their families.”
