Bank Park support for St Luke’s Hospice hits £20,000

SHEFFIELD based car parking company Bank Park has raised £20,000 for our patient services as its long-running support continues.

Bank Park provide an ethical solution to parking in Sheffield’s busy centre, giving new life to unwanted sites, re-generating buildings and providing parking spaces for the city.

They also manage many car parks in the region, offering cost effective parking options.

The company was established in September 2012 and has been supporting us since 2014, with Managing Director Ashley Kelley choosing St Luke’s in recognition of the support he and his family received when his mother was a patient.

That link was further strengthened when fellow director Karen Thorpe’s father became a patient in 2018.

“We opened our popular Cavendish Street car park just a few days after my father passed away in St Luke’s so it seemed fitting that this site supports the hospice,” Karen explained.

“Ashley and I have both had first-hand experience of how costly the hospice is to run and how much the facility totally relies on guaranteed fundraising so we were delighted when the land owner of this particular site recently offered to kindly match every pound we give to the charity.”

The Cavendish Street car park is also the first in the city to have a new cashless payment system.

Ashley said: “This new system is so popular and means that customers can park for however long they like safe in the knowledge that they will only be charged for the time they have parked up for and never get a fine through the post, whilst at the same time supporting St Luke’s - it’s win-win for all concerned.

“So with our parking customers help we are able to give back to St Luke’s and to show our thanks and support for the wonderful work they do.”
