Nag’s Head Harvest Festival auction raises almost £6,000

A Special Harvest Festival auction at The Nag’s Head pub in Loxley raised almost £6,000 for our patient care.

The autumnal auction is a popular annual event at the pub, with local auctioneers Stephen Helliwell and Kyle Hawksworth offering their services for free.

Among the quirky items going under the hammer at this year’s sale were a chair made from horseshoes, a hand carved stone heart, an owl sculpture and a hospitality package for the Sheffield Steelers.

“St Luke’s is a charity that are known for their amazing help and support during people’s times of need and we had a resounding nod of approval when it was announced that they were going to be our chosen charity for this year’s auction,” said landlady Megan Packham.

“What we weren’t to know was that a lady close to the hearts of many who frequented our pub, Jacqueline Baines, was to be cared for by the Sheffield St Luke’s in the days leading up to the auction event.

“Jacqueline sadly passed away shortly before the auction took place but we know she would have been extremely proud of the amount of money raised for a charity that provided the care and support she and her family needed at such a difficult time.”

Our Community Fundraising Assistant Morven Keay added: “We were delighted that The Nag’s Head team thought of us and they can be assured that the money they raised at this great night really will make a great difference to the lives of people like their friend Jacqueline, who need the help and support of St Luke’s.”
