Football fans raise £6,000 for hospice with Bramall Lane charity match

SHEFFIELD property consultants Monaghans scored a major hit for St Luke’s when they raised £6,000 with their charity football match.

The popular sporting challenge at the Sheffield Utd ground was organised by Tan Khan of Monaghans and sponsored by Sheffield Digital Campus, with two teams made up of professionals from the regional construction and property industry taking part.

And the star fundraiser of the day was keen St Luke’s supporter Richard Harding, of Morgan Sindall, who singlehandedly brought in around £2,000 towards the final total.

“As a Sheffield United fan it was a real privilege to be invited to play in the charity match organised by Monaghans and to run out and play was a fantastic experience,” said Richard.

“Morgan Sindall is always keen to support charities in our communities and when the charity was announced as St. Luke’s, I was particularly delighted to be able to raise money and give something back to a worthwhile charity that once supported my own family.”

“This was a fantastic event and one that really will make a huge difference to the lives of St Luke’s patients,” said our Corporate Fundraising Manager Jack Kidder.

Monaghans Managing Director Tan Khan commented: “The match was a huge success, great fun for a great cause!

“We are very grateful to Sheffield United, our sponsors and everyone who participated to make this event not only possible but also such an enjoyable evening.

“We are delighted to have raised a significant amount for St Luke’s, and we are already looking forward to next year’s fixture which we hope will be an even bigger success.”

“Everybody put so much enthusiasm into making the day such a great success but for Richard to raise so much really was an extraordinary achievement.”
