Sheffield mums add sparkle to their fight against cancer

THE fight against cancer doesn’t always have to be a serious business…as members of Sheffield Mums Against Cancer proved with their annual Big Sparkly Fundraising Ball!

SMAC is a group of city mums – founded by Ceri Rogers - who have joined forces to fight back against cancer, having been affected by cancer personally and lost loved ones to the disease.

The whole group work tirelessly year round to organise a whole host of fundraising projects including a Golf Day, Hoe Down, marathons and even a charity nude calendar.

Together they have raised £32,000 for our patient care and that figure was given a further boost with their Big Sparkly Fundraising Ball at Baldwin’s Omega.

The event raised money for both St Luke’s and Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and saw both organisations share a total of £13,500.

“SMAC are one of our biggest and most enthusiastic group of fundraisers and they have proved just how much can be done by combining some great ideas with a tireless can do spirit,” said our Community Fundraising Manager Megan Senior.

“The work they do on our behalf really does make a massive difference to the lives of all St Luke’s patients and their families.”
