Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Whitney Dsane, the newly crowned Miss South Yorkshire, to St Luke’s.
Whitney was joined by Christina Vaughan, founder of Cultura Creative, Alison Singleton, a former Miss UK, and photographer Leah Abdulla, for a tour of our In Patient Centre and Social Prescribing Services at our Ecclesall Road South site. They even joined our Wednesday singing group, where they enjoyed a live performance of the St Luke's Singing Group's original song 'A Beautiful Place (Never Feel Alone)'.
Our connection to the world of pageantry began when Christina invited us to speak about hospice care at the Miss South Yorkshire event in October, which raised an incredible £780 for patient care. Now, Whitney is continuing that amazing support in her new role.
Sheffield-born businesswoman Christina has revolutionised pageantry, making it more accessible, inclusive, and forward-thinking. Through her pioneering photography platform, Cultura Creative, she has redefined the global stock image market by representing ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people and older communities. Her vision for pageantry is equally bold - swapping outdated traditions for stories of ambition, resilience and social impact, and celebrating beauty in all its forms.
Jemma Dalton, St Luke's Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: "We are so grateful that Whitney has chosen to support local hospice care as part of her new role. Thank you for helping us make a difference for people living with terminal illness in Sheffield."
