Bodmin Street Mosque raises almost £1,000 for St Luke’s

Members of Sheffield’s Bodmin Street Mosque have raised almost £1,000 for St Luke’s Hospice in memory of the mosque’s former Chairman.

Haji Mohammed Sadique died in 2015 after battling against cancer, and in the final months of his life he received our support.

At a special collection following Eid Prayers, the mosque’s congregation raised £915.18.

The event was organised by Mr Sadique’s sons, Mohammed Ghazi Sadique and Mohammed Mahmood Sadique and grandson Mohammed Ajmal.

The present Chairman of the mosque, Mohammed Saleem, Secretary Mohammed Ali, and treasurer Basharat Hussain thanked St Luke’s for visiting the mosque and raising awareness of the work St Luke’s does throughout all communities in Sheffield.

The mosque and the Sadique family hope to do further fundraising events across other mosques and community centres in Sheffield and would now like to hear from anyone interested in participating.

“We were delighted to hear that the Bodmin Street Mosque wanted to support us and that their collection had such a good response,” said St Luke’s Community Fundraising Assistant Noni Bryson.

“We are even more pleased to know that as a result of this great first event, the Sadique family and their friends are now planning to do even more work on our behalf in the community.”
