Fundraising & Events Volunteering Opportunities

We have a range of exciting opportunities for both groups and individuals to get involved in, from cheering on our runners at the Sheffield 10K and Sheffield Half Marathon, to supporting teams at Sheffield United or Sheffield Wednesday, or even helping with the magical candle lighting at the Festival of Light! Event volunteering is flexible, fun, and doesn’t require a long-term commitment - perfect for those looking to make a difference in a short amount of time!

Volunteering at events is a great way to meet new people, choose from a variety of fun and engaging roles, develop new skills, and enjoy the flexibility of ad-hoc volunteering.

December Festive Collections

Help St Luke’s spread festive cheer and raise vital funds this December! Last year, collections for St Luke’s in December raised almost £3000, and we would love to raise even more than that in 2025! As a Collection Volunteer, you’ll support our hospice by collecting donations using our signature pink buckets and contactless machines at locations across Sheffield such as supermarkets and Sheffield Train station. There are various dates and locations available, and at some of them you’ll even be joined by choirs and singers helping to spread the festive magic! View our December collection dates at the bottom of this page.

Abbeydale Miniature Railway

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to represent St Luke’s at the Abbeydale Miniature Railway Christmas Lights event on Friday 12 December. This annual event raises around £4000 every year for St Luke’s, and with your help we hope to raise even more in 2025! You’ll be helping to take donations for tickets or helping on a fundraising stall such as a tombola. It's a brilliant way to make a big impact in just a few hours as well the perfect way to get into the festive spirit! The event will run from 4pm – 8pm with volunteering roles starting and ending just outside of these hours.

Collection Volunteer

As a Collection Volunteer, you’ll support our hospice by collecting donations using our magenta buckets and contactless machines at locations across Sheffield. Roles could include volunteering in supermarkets, at football matches, and at events throughout the year, giving you flexibility to choose when and where you volunteer. Events Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who can join our team Monday - Friday during the morning or As an Ad-Hoc Event Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in supporting St Luke’s Hospice assisting with various fundraising and supporter events. This flexible role is ideal for individuals who want to make a difference but may not be able to commit to a regular schedule. (16+)

Volunteer Sue will do anything for her favourite charity

“There has been something in every event I have attended that makes your heart sing and by the end you know that you have helped raise the money that will keep St Luke’s afloat," says Sue Cameron. Sue, who has been volunteering with us for the past 12 years and is now a familiar face at our annual events, as well as at our Ecclesall Road South site, where she supports the wide range of patient activities on offer.
