Remembering Jenine - a life of care and compassion
Jenine Morris, who died earlier this year was a much loved member of the St Luke’s team for 13 years. Here husband Craig talks about why she loved her role as a St Luke’s Health Care Assistant - and why she’d be so happy to be remembered at this year’s Festival of Light.
“When her dad became unwell with cancer, Jenine saw what the team at St Luke’s did for him, what a difference it made for our whole family - and that’s when she decided she wanted to work there.
“Jenine was somebody who always cared about others - she wanted to make their day special and she’d brighten up any room she walked in.
“She loved her job because she loved people. People were not just patients to her; they became friends. She would talk to patients about their lives and form a special bond - it helped them to have somebody like Jenine to talk to.
“She enjoyed giving people one-to-one care and at St Luke’s there’s always time for that. She had a heart of gold and it made her feel happy making other people happy.
“As a member of the St Luke’s team, she knew how important fundraising was and how much Festival of Light means to the people of Sheffield who are so generous and give so much.
“We used to visit Festival of Light together, mainly to remember Jenine’s dad - it’s a really great way to remember people at a special time of year.
“I know Jenine would be so happy that she is a special part of this year’s Festival of Light and she’d have been so pleased to know she was so highly thought of.
“There’s always going to be a need for St Luke’s - and that’s why we want to share her story with you.”
Best Wishes,
Craig and Family
