Jill Aeppli, Patient & Family Support Activities Manager

"We provide a safe space. It's okay to be upset but it's equally okay to come in and have a laugh."

Through our Patient and Family Support Service, patients and their loved ones can access a wide range of non-clinical services including movement sessions, digital skills classes and bereavement 1-2-1s. Our specialist care is tailored to each patient and our teams work together to help them achieve their goals and wishes.

We're here for not only patients in an early stage of their diagnosis, but their carers, family members and those who have been bereaved.

The Patient and Family Support service is here to support everybody and the entire family and support network. We want to give people a place where they're not afraid to come and ask for help, or not afraid to talk about their condition or what their family members are going through.

We provide a safe space. It's okay to be upset but it's equally okay to come in and have a laugh and forget about your condition or what you're going through for a few hours and focus on making something, or joining in an activity.

People share their stories between each other and build great friendships and talk about what they've been through; supporting each other through illness and loss.

Because of the nature of the surroundings and the people we have recruited here to be volunteers, it really does create a good place to talk.
