Nicky James

Nicola enjoyed a long NHS career as a Nurse Consultant in prostate cancer and was the Trust Lead Nurse for cancer and end of life care at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. National roles include NICE guidance committees to produce NICE guidance for Cancer of Unknown Primary and Prostate Cancer.

Research interests include development of nursing and allied health care roles. Nicola retired in June 2019 but found herself back at work only a very short time later as part of the Covid 19 response. No one was more surprised than her when she became the lead nurse for the Derby Mass Vaccination Centre from December 2020, before retirement beckoned once more in August 2022.

Nicola did her undergraduate degree in Palliative Care at St Luke's in the 1990s and has had an affection for and interest in St Luke's ever since.
