Oral Histories volunteer Janet Miles won’t let the flu get in the way of telling a good story.

ST Luke’s Oral Histories volunteer Janet Miles is determined that a dose of the flu won’t get in the way of telling a good story.

That’s one of the main reasons she has joined our Flu Fighters campaign and is encouraging other people to do the same.

“I had my first flu jab 11 years ago when I was myself diagnosed with cancer and I have had it annually ever since,” Janet says.

“Because I was having chemotherapy I was advised to have the vaccination and now it always seems the sensible thing to do.

“I don’t want to have flu myself and also, because I do work with vulnerable people when I am recording oral histories, I’d rather not pass on the flu to them.

“I have never had any problems with it beyond the occasional sore arm and that very quickly fades so I would definitely say get it done.

“Remember that if you get flu you are going to be very ill and nobody wants that to happen.”
