INTAKE mum Francesca Owen has proved there really is a short cut to fundraising success.
For she has raised more than £500 for St Luke’s simply by having her hair cut!
Francesca’s dad John Goff was a St Luke’s patient and it was in his memory that she began to grow her hair so that, more than a year after his death she could have a sponsored trim.
The hair went to the Little Princess Trust – the charity that provides wigs for young cancer patients – but the sponsorship money, which raised a final total of £510, went direct to our patient services.
“During the last few months of his life my dad received priceless care and support at St Luke’s,” Francesca explained.
“I promised him that when I felt up to it I would do my best to try and raise some money as a token to say thank you for looking after him so well.”
Our Fundraising Assistant Karan Taylor commented: “We are so pleased that we were able to help Francesca and her family at such a difficult time for them and we are delighted that Francesca has now done this for us.
“The money she raised will make a massive difference to patients and their families and it is especially great to hear that she has other fundraising projects in the pipeline.”
