IT was a case of best feet forward as a quartet of keen Sheffield dancing friends swapped the ballroom for the great outdoors…and raised almost £2,000 for our patient care.
The Travelling Botafogos – Mark and Rita Swales and Richard and Helen McGloin – took on the challenge of the famous Coast to Coast Walk, the 198 miles from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire.
The adventure took them almost a fortnight to complete but by the time they crossed the finish line they had raise a total of £1,700 – plus an extra £331 in Gift Aid.
“We chose them because they have cared for many of our Close family and friends,” said Mark.
Our Fundraising Account Manager Matthew Sheridan commented: “This is another great example of the way in which the people of Sheffield continue to take us by surprise with their enthusiastic support for the work we are doing throughout the city.
“In this our 50th anniversary year, we depend more than ever on this level of generosity to maintain our services, which are provided free of charge to all the people of Sheffield.”
