Weatherman Paul heading for the hills

BBC weatherman Paul Hudson isn’t bothered so much about the possibility of rain as he joins the starting line for the Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon…it’s more the hills that are causing him concern.

The popular Look North presenter is part of a team running on September 26  in memory of partner Kate’s mum Anthea Meakin, who was a St Luke’s patient before her death earlier this year.

But his training is being done mainly in the park near his Leeds home - which doesn’t take into account any of Sheffield’s notorious hills.

“I do run and I like running but I have never done a half marathon before and the idea of doing my first one up hill and down dale in Sheffield fills me with dread,” Paul admitted.

Partner Kate will be with Paul for the challenge, as will his daughter Ella and other members of the family, all hoping to raise at least £1,000 in recognition of the support Anthea received at St Luke’s.

“Me and my daughter are quite competitive so that should help us to get round,” he said.

“St Lukes provided valuable support to Anthea and the family during her final few weeks and we could not be more grateful for the comfort and help they offered.

“Sadly, Anthea is no longer with us but St Lukes continue to support other families in similar situations and therefore need all of the help they can get.”
