Our Therapy Team are pushing themselves to the limit with 26 hour challenge

OUR Therapy Team are getting in shape for a major fundraising challenge…26 hours of non-stop physical activity!

The team’s Let’s Get Moving class is one of the most popular fitness activities in the St Luke's therapy gym.

But with sessions currently suspended as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Specialist Palliative Care Physiotherapist Hannah Strudley and her colleagues - Emma Baldwin, Zoe Reidy, Amanda Tagg and Claire Roebuck - decided to challenge themselves and embark on a full 26 hours of keep fit.

“We felt that during this difficult time we wanted to set ourselves a real physical challenge to bring about a bit of fun whilst also raising some much-needed funds for the Hospice,” said Hannah.

“We’ve set our sights high and, taking our inspiration from the recent 2.6 Challenge, we have decided to make it 26 hours!

“We want to keep moving as a team for 26 hours, with at least one of us moving at all times, allowing the others time to rest, rehydrate and take the occasional break.

“We will be doing the challenge in our therapy gym so that we can make use of the equipment to create fun workouts to keep us motivated throughout the challenge. There will be photo updates on social media throughout the challenge – so that our regular patients are able to see us being put through our paces!”

Starting at 4.30pm on Friday May 15 and going on through to 6.30pm the next day, the team have set themselves an initial target of £1,000 but hope to raise even more as they do their best to keep up the pace.
