Put the kettle on and join Sue’s special fundraiser

LOOKING for the simplest way to support St Luke’s? Follow Sue Lenthall’s lead and put the kettle on!

Sue has spotted that the amount of money currently being saved by not buying coffees on the High Street every day during the COVID-19 pandemic could make a massive difference to one of her favourite charities.

Nurse Educator and Facilitator Sue’s husband Pete was a St Luke's patient as he neared the end of his battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

And she was so impressed by the support both Pete and the whole family received that she launched her own fundraising campaign - #forpetessake.

Now she has started a new campaign under the #forpetessake banner and has already raised more than £300 for St Luke’s.

“I am very aware that under the situation we have now, hospices like St Luke’s are going to lose out because their shops are closed and people are not able to raise money through their usual events,” said mum-of-three Sue.

“The thinking behind #forpetessake was the simple things you could do every day to make somebody else’s life a little bit better.

“I know times are hard for lots of people and that many of us are having to work from home but, by doing that, we are saving money on those daily things we don’t even think about like coffee and cakes and lunches.

“All I’m asking is that when you put the kettle on at home, think about how much you’re saving and pass that saving on to St Luke’s.

“St Luke’s was involved in Pete’s end of life care, he was admitted to St Luke’s a couple of times and he absolutely loved it.

“He actually died at the hospice and the care received by all of us was just amazing, which is why we as a family want to make sure other people can receive that sort of care in the future.

“I’ve done things like the St Luke’s Night Strider but all I’m asking people this time is to make a donation when they make a cuppa!

“You may not be buying your take away coffee any more, but could you donate that money to St Lukes’s instead?”
