About our volunteers

Are you interested in volunteering at St Luke's to support our care? We'd love to hear from you. (Pictured: Volunteers at our Crystal Peaks shop getting in the Christmas spirit)

Each year we face the challenge of finding the money to cover our running costs. That’s why the work done by our highly motivated team of more than 700 volunteers is so vital to us. It means that we can spend the maximum amount of money directly on caring for our patients.

Volunteers do many different and important jobs for us; and they bring a wide range of skills and experience to their work. Whether it's working in one of our shops, helping with fundraising, running events, collecting donations, driving, providing fresh flowers in the hospice or one of the many other roles, volunteers form a vital part of the St Luke's team.

It’s also thanks to the expertise of some of our volunteers that we have such a comprehensive and supportive bereavement service.

None of our volunteers are paid. Their reward is in helping us to help our patients, their families and friends.

All volunteers who work with people in our care have been checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Interested in volunteering?

We'd love to hear from you. We’d really appreciate your support in areas such as administration, organising events, collections, contacting our supporters, and giving talks to help us spread the word.

You must be over 14 years old to work as a volunteer in our shops, or over 18 to work in any patient-facing role, and you must be willing to undertake any training that's required for the role.
