Clinical vacancies

Junior Sister

Salary: £25,472 - £34,189 (Dependant on experience)
Hours: 37.5 per week

St Luke’s is an organisation that values and adds quality to individuals’ lives. Working for St Luke’s offers a real opportunity to make a difference. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Sister to work on our specialist palliative care in-patient unit.

This is an exciting development opportunity for a motivated and forward thinking Registered General Nurse who has a degree in nursing or related subject and would like to gain management and supervisory experience in a specialist clinical area.

As part of the Junior Sister role, you will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team including working closely with specialist consultants to provide clinical nurse leadership and co-ordination on the in-patient unit whilst maintaining and improving quality of life for our patients and their families. You will play a key role as learning and development manager on the in-patient unit supporting and encouraging members of the team to develop and progress.

You will be a first level registered nurse with some evidence of management/ leadership experience, excellent clinical skills, effective communication skills at all levels and awareness of the current issues in palliative care are essential as well as being a team player and having a flexible approach.

Staff Nurses (Temporary and Permanent Contracts)

Salary: £21,176-£27,534 (Dependant on experience)
Hours: From 30 hours per week, flexible 24 hour rota

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated staff nurses that will complement our dedicated and modern productive working environment by delivering the best possible clinical care standards.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain enhanced clinical and management experience to support career progression in a specialist palliative care environment, including in-house training programmes for competence in IV administration and catheterisation.

You will need to be a first level nurse with at least 12 months post registration experience. You will provide a therapeutic model of care to facilitate the delivery of high standards for patients who have specialist palliative care needs. Palliative care experience is desirable but not essential.

Non Clinical vacancies

Bereavement Services Counsellor

Salary: £21,176 - £27,534 per annum, pro rata (Dependant on experience)
Hours: 15 hours per week

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and qualified counsellor to be involved in the delivery and development of the Bereavement Service.

The Bereavement Service is part of the Patient Services Directorate and offers a range of services to support the bereaved whose relatives or friends received palliative care from the Hospice. Much of this support is provided by trained volunteers.

As well as maintaining your own counselling caseload, you will have a significant and substantial involvement in the supervision and training of bereavement volunteers. You will also maintain a telephone contact caseload of bereaved relatives and support the day to day running of the Bereavement Service as required.

You will be qualified as a counsellor to Diploma level, have post-qualification counselling experience, and be accredited or working towards accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, or equivalent. You will have experience and/or an interest in working with the bereaved, and an understanding of bereavement processes. An interest in group work, as well as one-to-one support, would be an advantage.

Hair Sylist

Salary: £7.99 per hour
Hours: 3 hours per week (Mondays 10am - 1pm)

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Hair Stylist.

You will help to deliver a hairdressing service to In-patients and Therapies and Rehabilitation patients, adapting treatments accordingly. You will also be responsible for describing hairdressing options to patients and ensuring that an accurate written record of hairdressing treatments is kept.

An NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing or equivalent is essential as well as post qualifying experience. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to listen to and communicate with patients in order to understand their wants and needs ensuring that respect, dignity and wellbeing of patients is maintained and promoted at all times.
