Staff at the Sainsbury's superstore in Crystal Peaks have chosen St Luke's Hospice as their Charity of the Year, and have already raised more than £6,000. They have also been holding regular donation days, handing over unwanted clothing, books, DVDs, CDs and household items for sale at our charity shops. The campaign has proved so successful, they decided to involved customers too.
The St Luke’s collection van is now visiting the Crystal Peaks car park, close to the main entrance of Sainsbury’s, one Monday every month from 11.00am to 2.00pm, collecting everything from the smallest paperback to the largest item of unwanted furniture.
The van’s next appearance at the site will be on Monday 13th February, and with a tenth store about to open in Firth Park, our need for donations is greater than ever.
"Altogether, we believe the collection days to date have raised the equivalent of more than £5,000 worth of goods for sale in our shops, which is an extraordinary achievement,” said our Corporate and Trusts Fundraising Manager, Margot Walker.
“Just bring along anything you think would be good for sale in our shops, including all those unwanted Christmas gifts, and we will find a use for it, although we cannot accept electrical appliances.”
