Festive chain of support

You could call it a chain letter… made entirely of messages of love and support for St Luke’s!

We asked our supporters not only make a Christmas donation, but also to contribute to a giant festive paper chain with a personal message. Hundreds of you responded, with enough links to decorate the hospice reception - and raised more than £20,000 for us at the same time!
“We were overwhelmed by the response,” said Regular Giving Development Manager Melanie Crossley.

“Every donation makes an enormous difference to our patients at this time of the year. Everything at St Luke’s is provided entirely free of charge so a gift of £23.50 pays for an hour's dedicated nursing care on Christmas Day, allowing a patient to spend time with their family, free from pain. And just £10 ensures Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

“As a charity, we must raise £4 million every year to provide our excellent levels of dedicated care locally. We needed to raise £11,280 just to keep St Luke's open on Christmas Day so these Christmas donations really have proved invaluable. And the messages of support we received for our paper chain were truly inspirational, a wonderful tribute to the work done by every member of the St Luke’s team.”
