Matthew's ultra-tough challenge

Runner Matthew Spivey is hoping success will be Assured as he takes on his biggest sporting challenge to date in support of St Luke’s.

Matthew is Operations Director with Assured Fire and Security, the Dinnington company that looks after safety and security at the hospice.

And that business link inspired him to choose St Luke’s when he signed up to take part in the notorious Hardmoors 55, the tough 55 mile ultra challenge race across the North Yorks Moors and the Cleveland Hills.

The race, which is held on March 17, takes in more than 2,700 metres of steep ascent and has a time limit of just 15 hours, with the possibility of some late winter snow adding to the ordeal.

“At Assured we are proud of our association with St Luke’s,” said Matt. “They do a fantastic job for all the people of Sheffield and if I can raise £1,000 for them I will think I’ve really achieved something!”
