Craft card challenge goes global!

From Las Vegas to Bermuda, Germany to Gibraltar - crafters around the world are fundraising for St Luke’s!

When Sheffield crafter Tara Cardwell set up on an online challenge to create greetings cards on a monthly theme, she didn’t really anticipate that the idea would go global. Now she's receiving cards from around the world - and they’re all being sold in support of St Luke’s.

“My dad Barrie died at St Luke’s almost four years ago so I know just important the hospice is and what a fantastic service they provide,” said Hillsborough-based Tara. “I also know how much money they need to raise every year to continue providing that service and this seemed like a great way to give something back.

“I’ve been a crafter all my life so I decided to set up a blog site, the St Luke’s Charity Cards Challenge, which sets a fresh card-making challenge every month. A lot of crafters make so many cards just for the love of it that they don’t know what to do with them when they finish, so by giving them to St Luke’s for us to sell on behalf of the hospice really is making a real difference.”

The blog – at www.stlukescharitycardschallenge.blogspot.com – was only launched in April this year but has now developed a worldwide following, with more than a 100 people around the world taking part. Tara has since received a staggering 1,532 cards, which are being sold exclusively for St Luke's.

“I was excited to get responses from all over Britain,” Tara admits. “But when I began to get entries from places like Las Vegas and Bermuda I really couldn’t believe it. The response has been brilliant and it’s getting bigger all the time.
