St Luke's Hospice nominated for Sheffield Business Awards

St Luke’s Hospice has been nominated for the Adsetts Partnership Third Sector Award at the 2012 Sheffield Business Awards.

The Sheffield Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony, one of the city's biggest business events of the year, will be held at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on 19 January 2012.

“This is the first time the Chamber has included a Third Sector award in its line-up and to be nominated means so much to everybody at the hospice,” said the charity’s Corporate and Trusts Fundraising Manager Margot Walker.

“The past 12 months have seen an incredible change of direction in the way that we operate our business and develop financial support. In the face of reduced NHS funding and, no direct government support at all, we have addressed our business model and built stronger alliances within the health and corporate sectors.

St Luke's has also worked hard to define and implement a stronger brand identity that is owned by the whole organisation and realised in our daily business.

“We have stepped up our fundraising tactics to include accessible initiatives, in particular the Starlight Walk which has substantially raised the profile of the hospice and increased public engagement. In the past year we have also expanded our retail operation to nine outlets and the shops have increased their revenue year on year and received a national award from the Charity Retail Association as the Most Profitable Charity Shop Chain in the five to ten shop category.

"These steps have strengthened our place at the heart of the community, supporting all the people of Sheffield.”
