Win
up to £1,000 by supporting St. Luke's!
St
Luke's receives less than half its costs for running the Hospice
from central government. Each year, through the untiring efforts
of our staff and volunteers and the generous support of the
people of Sheffield, we have to raise the necessary £3.8
million (that's a whopping £58,000 each and every week)
to continue our specialist work.
We
are asking you to help us with our essential work in the community
by supporting St. Luke's on a regular basis. By becoming a
friend of St. Luke's and making a monthly donation of £2,
£5 or £10, you will receive LukeyBird cards equivalent
to the amount you donate giving you up to 120 chances to win
various prizes and as much as £1000 or even a holiday
voucher! The LukeyBird cards will be sent to you in two instalments
with your four yearly copies of 'In
Touch' Magazine.
Those
of you who make a regular donation of £5 or more will
also receive a free LukyBird soft toy, friends of St. Luke's
diploma plus 'In Touch' Magazine.

Become
a Volunteer
|
|
In
addition to its staff, the Hospice is indebted to its army of over
500 unpaid volunteers, who perform a variety of functions both at
the Hospice and at the Hospice's six charity shops.
There
are volunteer nurses, carers and bereavement counsellors, as well
as general volunteers, who carry out non-essential but nevertheless
important non-professional duties at the Hospice, such as helping
in ward kitchens, serving tea, working at the charity shops, sewing,
arranging flowers, working on reception etc.
There
is a specialist induction course for those, who wish to volunteer
as nurses or carers but have no professional training or qualification.
Normally these people begin by working in the ward kitchen.
Our
volunteer workers include young people, many of whom combine their
work with studying at school or college. For information on becoming
a volunteer, contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator Christine
Sammans or call the Hospice on 0114 236 9911 or become a volunteer
